Bleeding Blue on Capitol Hill

Bleeding Blue

Together we marched as one, stood steadfast in solidarity,
forever united, under one color of camaraderie.

With our shoes polished, shirts pressed, we stood tall,
with distinction and honor we answered the call.

As the task at hand, required immediate action,
we stood to attention, without any hesitation.

For community, loved ones and strangers like you,
we answered the call of duty and sadly bled blue.

The hours long, the call outs demanding,
determined to end all shifts, with every man standing.

The violence, abuse, death, destruction and more,
was forever knocking, at the thin blue door.

The images we hold because of the things we’ve seen,
forever haunt our sleep and torment our dreams.

For community, loved ones and strangers like you,
we answered the call of duty and sadly bled blue.

Bones snapped, teeth broken, bodies bruised and battered,
leaving our mental state and overall well-being, completely shattered.

Our loved ones, family, neighbors and friends,
no longer see us the same, for this they can’t comprehend.

Our injuries and illnesses have changed us beyond belief,
and there’s no quick fix or pill for our immediate relief.

For community, loved ones and strangers like you,
we answered the call of duty and sadly bled blue.

We struggle to pay bills and live a normal existence,
while all the time, combat bureaucratic and political resistance.

Remember, we stood for what’s right, protected and served,
and simply ask for recognition and compensation for which we deserve.

For community, loved ones and strangers like you,
we answered the call of duty and sadly bled blue.

The poem "Bleeding Blue" by Mark Glenn Anthony is fitting in light of the failed insurrection last January.

"We're the party of Law and Order!" falls flat considering what the Capitol police endured at the very hands of those that have ranted "blue lives matter" for years.

Let me be very clear: some of those hands belong to the same blue brotherhood. These depraved jackasses, both active and retired, did nothing while our battered and abused Capitol officers volunteered their very bodies to form that thin blue line between order and chaos.

Well, not nothing. These idiots participated in the insurrection.

Our hearts go out to the brave LEO that took a stand for our elected officials and democracy. This includes all agencies that responded to the threat. We appreciate you. Be safe, be well. Reach out if your department offers CISM. You are not alone. You will not be abandoned. We stand with you.
