Destroying Democracy, Unchecked
Transcript of OLBERMANN VS. TRUMP #38: SCOTUS KILLS TRUMP'S TEXAS SUIT. NOW: PUNISH GOP CONGRESSMEN WHO BACKED IT. 11 December 2020.
This is Olbermann versus Trump and I'm not Trump.
As you know, the Supreme Court, including all of Trump's appointees, has now laughed Trump's sedition suit, filed by the pardon-seeking Attorney General of Texas, out of court.
Do not say, "Of course it has".
Do not say, "Thank god that's over".
Do assume that Trump has something else planned.
Particularly, watch this just-below-the-radar plot to challenge individual voters in the Electoral College, and never forget that the vast majority of one political party in this country happily signed on in support of overthrowing the duly elected government of the United States and, in particular, remember that this disloyal anti-democracy suit was supported by 126 republican members of the House of Representatives, including the Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. He's the one who signed on to the amicus brief just hours before the Supreme Court told the lot of them to fuck off.
Think of these traitorous bastards as members of our government and figure out how we are going to punish them for trying to destroy democracy. Happily, Congressman Bill Pascrell of New Jersey has hit the nail on the head. In the afternoon, he wrote to Speaker Pelosi and asked her, when the 117th Congress is sworn in on January 3rd, to invoke Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution and refuse to seat Minority Leader McCarthy and the others who supported this thwarted coup.
That section includes this quote: No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress who, having previously taken an oath to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof .
Can Pelosi actually keep the disloyal out of congress? Probably not. Can she brand them for life and make it clear to them and the others who will try this again this time or next time that their sedition will be remembered and it will be avenged? You bet your ass, because a bully does not stop simply because the adult caught him; the bully stops when you hit him harder than he hit you.
This is the America [that] Kevin McCarthy wanted and, by God, this is the America he is going to get.
Several talking heads have referenced Section 3 during the last week. Olbermann strips away the fluff to deliver naked truth. Pelosi needs to drive home the lesson. We can not allow people to engage in sedition, nor overlook their willingness to cast aside their obligation and oath in favor of keeping The Orange One in power.
If we don't? If we let it slide?
We give them a free pass to do as they please, beholden to nobody while they continue to betray their oath, the Constitution, and their constituents.
Giuliani continues to insist that they’re facing “censorship” from the media and in courtrooms. Tonight Sean Hannity vomited out another hour of ego-balming for Trump. His guest was none other than Tootie Rudy Guiliani, who still insists that they’re facing “censorship” from the media and in courtrooms.
Guiliani: “It’s too important to the country cannot have a hearing. Unless something happens in the state courts, this will be a scandal that’ll stand in American history with a court that didn’t have the courage to take it up.”
Hannity: "Time is now of the essence obviously. The next question is do you have a plan B. Do you see any other legal path?”
Any other? Other? These mudderplucking twitwhistles see nothing wrong with their antics? If nobody does - if nobody lifts a palm to slap the sedition out of them - the Americans that buy their rancid bullshit will continue to spread it throughout the community. Bad fertilizer will destroy a thriving garden.
Yet, here we are. Giuliani will continue to grind the failed coup gears, unchecked.
“So far the facts have been suppressed, they’ve been subject to censorship by big media, censorship by big tech, censorship by the Democrat party, and censorship by the courts!” he lamented.
There. Are. No. Facts. To. Suppress.
As for all those GOP House leadership signing the amicus brief? I agree with Olbermann. I'd also agree with him if the tables were turned and a Democrat POTUS tried these antics to stay in power.
Congressman Pascrell's request of Pelosi isn't unreasonable. The 117th
Congress is sworn in on January 3rd. It is in our nation's best interest
to invoke Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. McCarthy and the others
that betrayed our Constitution, our nation, our people. In a nutshell,
they played their hand and now have to deal with the consequences. I have no qualms about suggesting that our citizens likewise send letters to Pelosi in support of democracy.
Suffrage is the right to vote in public, political elections. Be wary of any party or individual that would strip away your vote in order to install their own version of government. Your vote is your voice; do not allow them to silence you.

Okay, also published here because I take sick pleasure in his continual evisceration of all that's unholy in the world of politics.
